Jeez, don't check the interweb for a month and all of a sudden Campbell's got himself a blog. Are you still drinking at your usual haunts on Monday afternoons in Brisneyland, Eddie? I'll have a whiz around them when I'm home for Christmas.
Dumas wrote the Three Muketeers. Dumb-ass didn't write anything. Stephen Fry was referring to Dumas in a Michael Parkinson interview. he said Alexandre Dumas, pronouncing as the French would, or 'dumb-ass as we would pronounce it nowadays.

Dumas had people to write the stories for him.
interestingly, my old 1950s encyclopedia was still open in front of the computer screen when your comment came in, Nathalie.

And you know, when i was starting out, i would have been more than happy to ghost for somebody else and not be recognized if it meant I could have avoided working as a filing clerk in offices and as unskilled laborer in factories. I could have been learning the ropes and making connections etc. for my own career which would start later. There should be more of those kinds of opportunity. butthe world doesn't work that way any more.

It's a good thing I checked in before coming all the way to George or Albert St or wherever the damn pub around the corner from the comic shop was. Of course, I can barely remember where my keys are in the morning, so it's not so strange.
Still married. Still in New York. Still an art director. As such, have been reading your postings on 'illustration as art form' with great interest, as I'm obviously now the person to whom illustrators must 'fulfill the requirements of a prescriptive brief to a predetermined concept.' Bugger. Out of space. Oh. No! The box moves. But I've just stopped.
OK, so I just figured out that by replying through my LJ you don't get the comments. And I blame Jon and his laxness in responding to emails and inability at answering his phone for my delay in figuring this out :P Also discovered apparently that the email addy I have for you doesn't work nay more. Am enjoying and laffin' my ass off at the various bits of Campbellania.

how come jon has my email address and you don't. Do you not exchange information in that house? Anyway, I lost everybody's email address in my last computer crash and am building from scratch. Did you notice the color picture of Gull you have on your wall has finally been given the position it was designed for on the cover of the new edition of From hell!
as for replying through your LJ, I cannot begin to...oh wait minute, thta's short for LIveJournal. if that's a ref to somebody syndicating my blog at LJ, i did notice that had happened but it had nothing whatsoever to do with me. Since my aim is to reach as many people as possible I saw no purpose in complaining and just mad a mental note to adjust the way I deliver my information accordingly.
anyway, i still don't have your email addy, so I'm writing here. I'll go upstairs to the other comments and kick jon's arse about it
